KENMORE, N.Y. – There aren’t petitions being circulated or a vote scheduled anytime soon. But one local village is starting to prepare for a battle.
Flags hang from the porches of many homes in the Village of Kenmore, painting a perfect picture of small town America. And some are concerned that will change.
“We didn’t just want to respond to village dissolution when the topic came up,” said Melissa Foster, founder and member of the Kenmore Village Improvement Society.
Like villages in Williamsville and Sloan where recent votes to dissolve failed amid lots of debate, the Kenmore Village Improvement Society is starting to campaign early. On the heels signs reading “We Love Sloan, Leave it Alone” comes “Kenmore is Fine Do Not Sign.” The Kenmore Village Improvement Society says some worry about loss of services like police.
