Commercial Real Estate Brokers & Agents Day

Commercial Real Estate Brokers and Agents Day

Whenever we ask Village residents what, in their opinion, could use some improvement here, they’ll often mention our vacant retail and commercial spaces and their hope to see them filled. The Businesses and Commercial Properties Committees decided that one of the best ways for us to help this happen is to enlist the aid of Commercial Real Estate professionals. We developed the concept of an event that we call Commercial Brokers & Agents Day or Brokers Day for short.

Why have Brokers Day?

We had determined that one of the best ways to help fill vacant business spaces in the Village was to enlist the help of Commercial Real Estate professionals but then we had to find a way to do the following:

  • Draw their attention to Kenmore properties in a unique and memorable way.
  • Let them know that we’re proactive – that we support them in finding buyers or tenants for available Village properties.
  • Help them to know that we care about our business district and want to have an interesting, vibrant, and viable businesses come here.

Ultimately, the Businesses and Commercial Properties Committees decided that we should invite the Commercial Brokers and Agents here to Kenmore and treat the occasion with the same care as if we were inviting them to our homes.

The First Brokers Day Event

The first Brokers Day event was held on the second floor of the Municipal Building in the grand hallway overlooking the Village Green.  We served the attendees a sumptuous breakfast, had generous gift certificates from area businesses to give them to take home and then took them on a tour of available properties.  The event was a success and prompted us to decide to include a Brokers Day event each year.

Brokers Day II & III

The second Brokers Day was a recession friendly event.  We sent bound presentations of available, broker protected properties to all WNY Commercial Real Estate Companies along with a token gift.  Iskalo Development graciously sponsored this event event though the financial outlook was difficult for everyone at that time.  Isaklo Development Corp. are building a terrific new multi-use structure on Delaware Avenue.  The building is brick and is sympathetic to the architecture already present in the Village.  Construction is set to begin soon.  The upper level of the building is medical (doctors office) and the lower level is retail.  Take a look for yourself at what’s coming:  http://www.iskalo.com/property-viewer/12/

Our 2010 Brokers Day event takes place on May 19th under a tent on the lawn of Jack Hunt on Delaware Avenue.  This site overlooks the new Iskalo Development site.  The event is a cocktail party with tasty hors d’ouvres from Village restaurants and bevvy from Premier.  There are some great gifts that we’ll be giving away including an original painting by the well-known artist, Rita Auerbach.  We’ll take those present on an electronic virtual tour of available properties and hope that everyone has a great time.  This Brokers Day event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, Iskalo Development, Plaza Group, and Tranzon Auction Properties -thank you!

The Survey

To help area Commercial Brokers and Agents market Kenmore properties, we developed an on-line businesses survey.  The survey included questions about:

  • What specific types of businesses residents would like to see come to Kenmore
  • What, if any, businesses residents thought we have enough of at present
  • What, if any, name brand businesses they’d like to see come to Kenmore
  • Would the residents support the business if it came to Kenmore

The survey also included a place for residents to write general thoughts and hopes for our business environment. The survey was distributed to those who attended the Brokers Day event and will be made available here soon.
