Helping to Create Visual Interest and Appeal
The KVIS works to help create visual appeal by decorating the Village for various seasons. Each year we work to help mark the passing of time and the beauty of the seasons. We usually pause when we’re finished decorating to enjoy some refreshment and take in our handywork. You are welcome to join in the fun and to add your thoughts and ideas to help make our Village look as festive as possible throughout the year.

This Autmn you may win a prize and receive an award for the decorating you do to the front exterior of your home! Our Residential Properties Committee is sponsoring this event to help spark an interest in celebrating this beautiful time of the year. There are six categories and terrific prizes! Donate an Evergreen Wreath
The KVIS would like to place outdoor evergreen wreathes on the Delaware Avenue lamp posts for the Christmas/Holiday Season. We will need two wreathes for each lamp post, one for the north and one for the south side of the pole. We will need a total of 44 wreathes. Would you like to donate a wreath? We will publish a booklet that includes the names of everyone who donates and you may donate in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone. The cost of each wreath is $35.00. Memorial Day – Independence Day
Last year we purchase six good quality red, white, and blue fan buntings that we placed on the Delaware Avenue Gazebo. We also added some ribbon to the lamp posts along the road. Our hope was that this decorating would express our love for our country and help make the Village look great for the Memorial Day Parade. We’ll be doing the same decorating this year with new ribbon donated by Michael’s Florist. A big thank you to Michael’s Florist and to Colvin Cleaners for cleaning and pressing the fan bunting for us!
Autumn
Toward the end of September we gather to decorate with corn stalks, leaves, and scarecrows. We decorate the Gazebo and add a scarecrow to the light at the point of the Delawares. We don’t use real pumpkins but are always on the look-out for the next great item to add to the displays. If you have an idea for this or any other season, please contact us and share it. Thank you.
Christmas/Holidays
We make sure to have our Christmas/Holiday decorating done for the arrival of Santa to the Village on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We decorate the lamp posts along Delaware with red ribbon, we add some wreathes to the Gazebo and Kenmore Clock and treat the area to some lit garland too. Our hands are cold but our spirits warm as we stop to admire our work, and when Santa does arrive, we hope he’ll be pleased with how merry the Village looks!
