Conduct Statement: As a Kenmore Village Improvement Society Member I shall strive to improve the Kenmore Village by first treating others with consideration and respect. I shall strive to listen well to others. Even when someone shares a different point of view from my own, I will strive to value that persons thoughts and opinions. I shall be mindful of the fact that as humans, we are capable of great deeds which can truly make the world a better place. This fact will lead me to positive action. I shall be mindful of the knowledge that we are all different. This knowledge will lead me to a compassionate and humorous view of myself and others. I shall be mindful of the truth that this Society is greatly needed and may create a way for people here and across the nation to become positively invested in their communities. This truth will give me vision. I shall be mindful of the precious and precarious position of our Village. This love and fear will inspire me to persevere in success and failure, adversity and comfort. “It is one of the beautiful compensations of life, that no man can sincerely help another without helping himself.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson “Do all you can with what you have, in the time you have, in the place you are.” – Nkosi Johnson, a boy born into dire poverty while also being infected with AIDS, who died at the age of 12. “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” – Goethe “No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor is given by what he gave.” – Calvin Coolidge |
